The film received two awards at Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). In addition, she appeared in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. In 2008, Marinca played Yasim in BBC's five-episode The Last Enemy. Marinca was a part of Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven as well the Romanian drama Boogie. Later she was Irma's German Aunt in Fury, which was released in 2014.
